I was awoken one early morning this week by a Provo city utility worker letting me know that I would be without water for most of the day. There was a water main break up the road that needed fixing. This breakage included the system that sends water to the fire-hydrant in my front yard. So for 2 hours they drained it.
I think I would be deficit as a mother if I didn't take my water loving girl outside and let her play. Yes, it was a cold morning, but that's what coats are for. She was quite wary of the hydrant pitting water and the 2 guys standing near it so we played in the river that flowed down 1000 East. Fun times and wild morning hair.

Is March over yet?
This last week has been hard and I'm sleep deprived. I'm not going to go over all of it again so instead I'm going to post pictures of my daughter and the happy things she's been doing of late.
Here she is eating Chocolate icing after helping mom frost a chocolate cake.
And here she is enjoying the "daddy slide". She's also obsessing about regular slides. Lots of park time this summer I imagine.
And here is her spa day
And my favorite of all; my little angel fast asleep and dreaming.

Childhood Joy
I made an observation today while watching my daughter play outside. Children live in innocent and simple joy.
Perhaps one reason people have children is to remind themselves of what life SHOULD be like; devoid of political/religious/etc. angst and the laying of blame. Life should be about how licking a little frozen icicle causes unabashed giggling. That suiting up to tromp through snow is the best activity for a Sunday. And the sure knowledge that Mom and Dad hung the moon and sing the sun to sleep just for me.
Yes, given a choice between 3 hours of Sunday rhetoric and 3 hours of tag in the snow with a 2-year old and I'll take tag every time.

Spiders!!!!
There was some spider wrasslen done today.
She darn near took the poor thing's head off.
But she's too nice to do that.
So they called it a draw.
And they kissed and made up like best friends.
And then we took a break from decorating and had pizza.

Pure joys
I have had a trying couple of days. A flux of wonderful and hurtful, but through it all my duaghter has been oblivious and I am glad. I watch her and think of Christ asking us to be like little children. The pure joys that they experiance because of things like a train whistle in the distance, showing a favorite stufed toy the ABC's in a book, the spray of a sprinkler, or the magic of bubbles.
If only we adults could let go of our obsessions over money, our vehemence over politics, our judgments in the name of religion, and such. The world would be a better place. today I think I'll stop for a nap, drink a glass of coco, color for a while, and look for the pure joy in the day.

Summer Fun
Shiori is a water bug. She would rather play in the water than anything else - including eat treats. This last week we went up the canyon to the park and the highlight for her was the river (and throwing rocks in it). We also spent Sunday out at my parents' house and let her just play. Here are some pics and I will add the video later.
Gosh she cute! This is her at Rick's school scribbling on a lab sheet while we waited for the Mentos and Coke fountains to start.
